Research
Between Two Stages: Russian and American Acting Training and Its Impact on Craft, Process, and Artistic Identity.
Overview
This independent research project explores how Russian and American approaches to actor training shape performers’ craft, creative process, and artistic identity. Drawing on theatrical theory, acting methodologies, and contemporary training practices, the project examines key traditions associated with figures such as Konstantin Stanislavski, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Sanford Meisner, and Michael Chekhov. Through comparative analysis, the research investigates how different educational and artistic environments influence the way actors develop technique, approach character work, and understand their role as artists. The project reflects both my academic interest in actor training and my personal experience studying within different performance traditions.
